The main purpose of pulposcopy lies in the inspection of the pulpal space and the identification of the entrances of root canals. Pulposcopy supports the endodontic treatment under difficult anatomical conditions. In addition, obliteration of root canals and root fractures can be detected. In contrast to the use of microscopes, pulposcopy can also be applied in case of bleeding from vital tissue in the root canal by using the immersion technique.
